"KOWHAI DAY" IN FEUDING.
» FIRST ANNIVERSARY. (By TclenraDb.—Special Correspondent.) Fcilding, October 10. Feilding was picturesquely spotted with yellow to-day, in honour of the first anniversary of "ICowhai Day." Everybody, old and young, wore a buttonhole of "Feildings flower," find the shops wero decorated with sprays of it Parties wero down in tho Awahuri Bush at an early hour, fathering tho blooms, which are now in glorious colour. Groat care was exercised in picking, and • wanton destruction was reduced to a minimum, as the result of special directions issued by the Beautifying Society. The quantity used was double that of last' year, and tho demand was quito unsatisfied.
As the result of the founding of "Kowhai Day," trees aro being planted in gardens and bush not only in Feilding and district, but throughout tho Dominion. Two hundred packets of kowhai seeds were distributed during tho past year by the Feilding Beautifying Society.
