THE RESURRECTION.

ITS PLACE- IN RELIGIOUS J TEACHING. STATEMENT AT THE CHUECH . ' | CONGRESS. By Telesrraph—Press Association— Copyright (Eec. October 8, 5.5 p.m.) London, October 8. At the Church Congress many complaints were made that the Resurrection of Christ had been dropped from Teligious teaching except at Eastertide. The Dean of Lichfield said that without the Resurrection Christianity would be only one of the .main-religious systems of the world,.groping pathetically after God. Other speakers described the doctrine of the risen, living, ever-present, active Lord as the motive power of the Christian life and work. Hence the doctrine ought to bo restored to its old" predominating place in the sermon, worship, and sacraments of the Church. DIOCESAN FUNDS. London, October 6. At the .Church Congress, Lord Barnard, chairman of tie Finance Committee, advocated the introduction in Britain of a schemo that was popular in Canada and the United States, under which every parishioner assisted by giving regular contributions, the smallest being a halfpenny weekly. The recommendation was generally approved.

Canon. Osborne detailed- the working of the diocesan fund in Brisbane, Queensland.
