SHEARERS' PAY.
AUSTRALIAN AWARD GIVEN. By Tcleeraph—Press Association—Copyright (Bee. October 6, 9.20 p.m.) . Sydney, October 6. Mr. Justice Higgins, of the Commonwealth Arbitration Court, has delivered his award in the shearing dispute. Tho award fixes tho hours at not more than 48 per week. With regard to wet sjioep, tho award provides that the men may legitimately refuse to shear if a majority of tho shearers on a secret ballot decide against shearing. Preference to unionists is refused for tho present, but this decision is not to affect any future application. Tho following minimum shearing rates aro fixed:—Whore rations are not found— Flock sheep, 21s. per 100; rams and ram stags, 48s. per 100; stud owes and their lambs, 303. per 100. If rations are found, ten shillings a week less than the abovo rates. Cooks are to bo paid 50s. a week; adult shepherds, 375. 6d.; boys, 20s. to 255. weekly, with their keep added. Overtime is to bo paid for at the rate of time airrf a half foT tho first two hours, and double rates afterwards.
