Sir John Findlay loaves for Auckland to-day in order to open his election campaign in Parnell on Monday. Lady Findlay will accompany him. Mr. 'G. M. Thomson, M.P. for Dnnedin North, left for tho south last night. Mr. Gerald Sinclair, of this city, left by tho Manuka, yesterday for Svdney, where he intends taking up his residence. Mr. W. D. Cook (of Messrs. Hunt and Co.) was tho guest of the Merchants' Association yesterday, prior to his doparturn for Sydney. The members assembled to bid him farewell, and to mako him a presentation in token of their regard for him. Mr. A. E. Koraol, chairman,' presided, and Mr. Cook's health was cordially toasted. Mr. Cook left for Sydney yesterday. Mr. Michael Francis M'Hugh, a prominent member of tlio Druids' Lodge, died at tho Wellington Hospital on Thursday. Deceased leaves a widow and four children. ' Mr. A. T. Bate left for' Sydney yesterday, where he will attend a conference of philatelists ns the representative of tho New Zealand Philatelic Society. The Rev. P. B. Fraser, M.A." has been nominated by tho Taranaki Presbytery ns Moderator of tho General Assembly.— Press Association. Tho Rev. A. tJ. Seamcr intimated at Thursday night's meeting of tho Petono Methodist Circuit that ho had decided to sock a change in Mardi next. A motion expressing regret nt his departure, and placing on record services rendered, was unanimously carried.
