ADDITIONS TO THE SCHEDDLE. -. i~. —"_ The schedule for this year's show, under the auspices of the Egm'ont A. and P. Association, which is to be held at Hawera on November 8 and 9, has just been issued. The schedule for the twentyeighth annual fixture is tho most attractive one yet put forward by the society. Altogether, the sum of JEI3OO is offered in prize money. prizo money, exclusdvo of trophies, medals, etc. A rough summary of tho additions to tho schedule is:—.[«. cattle, a class for pen of two yearling heifers has been added to varipus sections. For the exhibitor gaining most points in purebred Jerseys, Jlokiteins, and Ayrshires, tho New Zealand Shipping Company have donated a solid silver challenge cup. Special attention is pail to dairy classes, additional prizes being given in the purebred classes tor the cow showing most points in milk vessel. Tho butter-fat competition, which wiaa so successful last year, is again a chief feature, .£l7 17s. being offered in prize money, in addition to which a gold medal is given. This year some of the leading factories have contributed towards tho prize money in tho butter-fat competition, and, a now. class for best cow foi cheese-making, with casein, test combined. This latter class promises to bo quite as. successful as the butter-fat competition, and will be invaluable to cheese factories. Both these competitions will be under tho supervision of the Dairy Commissioner antf staff.
Tho'sheep'classes are well varied.' .-A cih/allengo cup is .to b? competed for in the fat classes, and th« class lot fivo lambs (freezers), which drew 19 entries last year,- should again bo a strong one, fclie first prize being J7 "s. Draught horses should again be a strong feature. of the show. A championship of £7 7s. is given to the draught/entire, and the other draught classe's arc well credited with prize money. In thoroughbreds and carriage and coaching classes tho prizo money has been doubled. The ring competitions aro always very populni. Over .£IOO will bo offore.l in prize money. In the huntiuVj competition on.the first day tho. first prize ( i5 ; .482f1; inA addition to a challcngo oup value'twenty guineas. On the second-day the leaping competition is the chief class, with. £tt for first prize money. • . The dairy produce classes nre arranged under tho guidance of the Xcw Zealand Dairy Factory, Managers' Association, and in butter tto gold medals t-ncl tho association s cup are given in addition to good pnzo money. .
