THE NAVY LEAGUE.

The monthly meeting of tho Wellington Executive of the .Navy League was held last night at the Chamber of Commerce, Mr. J. M. Butt being in the chair.

The hon. secretary reported upon the main results of the recent conference of Navy League delegates and deputation to tho Prime Minister. The latter's reply to the league's contention (that facilities be given tot naval training ''.V the establishment of inexpensive shore depots to be run in conjunction with tho Ainokura) was. reported as encouraging. A promise had been made by Sir Joseph Ward to urge upon the Imperial authorities an increase,in tho number of naval cadetship nominations for New Zealand. Regarding the proposed New Zealand Quarterly Supplement to "Tho Navy," it was decided to await further developments.

A letter was received from tho secretary to the Naval Commissioner in Chief at Sydney as to tho movements of H.M. ships, and information as. to the probable dato of the Admiral's arrival in New Zealand waters was promised. An offer from the Canterbury branch to supply lantern slid'Os, and a suggestion from Captain Isherwood as to a pamphlet, on naval design were not entertained. Mr. A. S. Malcolm, M.P., wrote in appreciation of tho arrangements made by the league in connection with his recent lecture on Imperial federation. It was reported that Mr. P. ,T. H. Hannon had been appointed secretary at tho London'headquarters. A number of letters from London and other routine . correspondence from branches were laid on tho table. Some doubt exists as to whether it would bo practicable to hold tho annual Trafalgar supper on October 21. This and other matter* connected with Trafalgar Day were left to tho secretary. Accounts (aggregating £i$ ,Is.) were passed for payment, including' a London remittance for books for schools for =£18 as.
