NOTES AND COMMENTS.

{Br Glbkcob.l Some little difficulty has been experienced in getting a rider for Kilosteri at Napier Park next week. The stable jockey, A. Oliver, is unable to dp the ■wei.jlit, and, as the Blenheim meeting is held on the same day, there promises to be a dearth of horsemen at the ferine" meeting. A telegram has been forwarded to J. Buchanan at Ellerslie asking him''to make tho trip south. The Auckland horsemen, B. l.lceley and J. Conquest, who were riding -at Hastings, 'returned to Ellerslie by the Main Trunk' express yesterday. The pair leave again this evening, and arrive here tomorrow on'their way to Blenheim, where *ach of them has been fully engaged. Other riders with complete engagements aro'W." Price and. F. Meagher. Trainers R. J. Mason and J. Frank? are 'leaving Sydney to-morrow with their teams, and will arrive here on Wednesday noxt/

P.' Mason took the Obligado gelding Gnome south last night. The chestnut will probably bo brought back to tho Trehtham meeting, along with another Obligado youngster, and Miss Mischief. The time (48 2-ssoc.) put up <n the Hastings Stakes by Glade on Wednesday is a record for the race.. The .winner is nothing, to gnsh over as to looks, but there is no doubt about her. ability to gallop. Last season's crack three-year-old Danube, who is at present doing a light Mason at the stud, will probably be given a further opportunity to distinguish himself on the race tracks. Reports from Melbourne state that Soultlform is amiss. Tho trouble is not very serious, but it is sufficient to keep him off the tracks for some little time. The hurdle horse, Captain Bell, who was successful on the second day of the "Wanganui meeting, has been turned out for a three months' spell. Dazzling, who ran second to Bobrikoff in tho Final Handicap at Hastings on Wednesday, was hardly handled to tho best advantage, and it is possiblo that on the next occasion on which she starts she will show, considerable improvement on that form: • When Scots Fusilier fell in the HackHurdles at Hastings he broke his leg— a very, prononnced fracture—and then galloped on for a furlong. Outward, tho winner of tho Maiden Eaco at Hastings, is rathor on tho ; small side, and in this respect takes after her dam Outer, as sho does in general conformation. She is a very fast filly, and should seo a better day. Turbine and Monolino were shipped from 1 Auckland to Treotkam on Mondiiv last. -•■ W. Ring is expected to leave Auckland for Trentham next week witih. Domino and Hohungatahi. It was rather a coincidence that Mr. E. J. Craven should have supplied the •winner of tho Craven Plato at Randwick on Wednesday. 'Owners aro given a final reminder that acceptances for tho firit day's events at tho Marlborough , Racing Club's spring meeting close this evening with the club's secretary, Mr. L. Griffiths, Blenhoim. Acceptances for tho Napier meeting close to-night. Tho Australian Jockey Club's meeting will bo concluded to-morrow, when the Randwick Plate, two miles, will bo run. Tho Metropolitan Committee of the Taranaki Jockey Club met on Monday night to consider tho appeal of R. Barlow against his disqualification by tho Egmont Racing Club. The committ'eo delivered a lengthy judgment, of which tho following is tho closing paragraph :—After full inquiry, at which tllio Egmont Racing Club and Barlow havo had full opportunity of being hea.nl and adducing evidonco, and with much additional evidence now brought before it. as well as the material befcr.c it in Juno, and that be-

fore the Judicial Committee in May and Angust, and that before tho judges of tho oonforenco in July, rlio Metropolitan Conimitoteo again deals with tho matter on its merits. It decides that it is proved that Bartow lias not been, guilty of a.ny corrupt or fraudulent practice in rotation to the riding of Master Sylvia in the Railway Handicap at the Egmont race mooting on May 1", 1011. If it bo necessary in tho peculiar circumstances of tlio case to make any such formal order,,it is ordered that tho appeal of Barlow ho allowed, and the decision of tho Judicial Committee removed. Barlow's deposit will bo refunded.
