The elocutionary competition promoted by the Pnlmcrsten North Technical School commenced yesterday. There was very keen competition in Shakespearean recitals for both sexes. In the Shakespearean diologuo Hiss Poole and Mr. Eric Lvon defeated Hiss and Mr. Byron Brown, of Otaki. In the ladies' Shakespearean competition, Misses Watson and Mumford tied, each scoring 92 points, and in the men's Shakespearean a keen contest in the final between Mr. Eric Lyon and II r. Byron Brown resulted in a win for the latter with 87 points to 85. Jlr. Eric Lyon also won the men's humorous recital with Mr. Fred Pirani second.—Press Association. THE ARTS OP THE HAIRDRESSER.
