A RUSE REPEATED.

PETTY TACTICS IN PARLIAMENT. The little comedy of Tuesday afternoon, when a special effort was made from tho Government tanchos to prevent the Opposition moving an amendment to the motion to go into Committee of Supply, was repeated last evening. When tho motion was made Mr. Hordman and Mr. Sidey (the Ministerialist member for Caversham) both rose, and called, "Sir I" Mr. Speaker called on the member for Caversham, and thereupon Mr. Sidey, amid ironical laughter, wn? understood to ray something about St. Kilda and a foreshore. Members: Can't bear! Mr. Massey: It's bo important that wo can't id low it to pass without understandinc it. (T/iughlcr.) Mr. Sidey tried again. Ho moved: "That in the interests of the Government and the residents of the city of Dunedin and the borough of St. Kilda, assistance should be given )iy (he Government towards the protection and improvement of the foreshore nt Ocean Beach." Nobody spoke to the amendment, except the mover, and nobody listened to him. The motion w;ls lost on the voices; and the House immediately went into Committee of Supply. Tho Standing Orders do not permit of a second amendment being moved. Mr. llcrdnian's attempt to move an amendment, whatever . it may have been, \ra.s thus for the second time blocked by nn obvious ruse.
