Tho executive of tho Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants at Dublin has resolved to call a general strike of Irish transport workers unless the railway c°iupanies unconditionally reinstate tho strikers. _ , Pitiable scenes aro being witnessed in the poorer quarters of the city. Every morning a largo queue is formed at fivo o'clock outsido tho Go-operativo Society's stores and tho bakers' shops, fruitlessly waiting to buy bread after tho regular customers havo been served. The police are protecting tho bakprs' vans to prevent looting. London, October 2. The locomotive signalmen and others at Waterford have resumed work, and the services will be recommenced tomorrow.
SAUSAGE TRADE STRIKE. | (Rec. October 3, 9.20 p.m.) Melbourne, October 3. Two hundred sausage-case workers have struck for an increase in pay of two shillings weekly. RELEASE OP LITHGOW STRIKERS. Sydney, October 3. Replying to the criticisms of his action in releasing Mr. Dixon, secretary, of the Federated Ironworkers' Union, who was sentenced on September 19 to two months imprisonment in connection with the Lithgow strike, Mr. Holtnan, State Attor-ney-General and Minister for Justice, states that he had the concurrence of Judge Heydon, of the Industrial Court, in remitting a part' of the sentence. lie added that several fines imposed on Lithgow strikers had been considerably rcduccd. SEAMEN'S DEMANDS. Melbourne, October 3. Tho Federal Arbitration Court has commenced the hearing of the seamen's claims against tho Steam Ship Owners' Association. The demands are: For boatswains, ,£9 a month; A.B.'s, .£8; lamp-trimmers, d£9; ordinary seamen, <£6; donkeymen, .£ll j greasers, <£10; and runners, =CB. Four hours on duty and eight off when at sea is claimed.
MOUNT LTELL DISPUTE. Melbourne, October 3. The Amalgamated Mine Employees' Association has lodged a olaim with the Federal Registrar for a compulsory conference in connection with the Mount' Lyell dispute. (Rec. October 4, 0.15 a.m.) Melbourne, October 3. The course of the negotiations between, representatives of tho Mount Lyell Company and the employees indicates that if the men will waive the reinstatement of the dismissed man the oompany is practically ready to conccdo everything olse.
