Tho weather was fino ami warm, and Uho going good for the second day of the Australian Jockey Club's spring meeting at Randwick to-da.y. The results wero as follows :— THE SHORTS, a handicap sweepsjftke of 10 sovs. each, with 500 sovs. added, Six furlongs. Mr. F. G. White's b. g. Seaton's Malthusian, 'St. 121b. 3 There were nineteen starters, including Sharpshooter, Sunburnt, and Culprit. _ The first horco to move was Popinj.ij, with Culprit and Sunburnt as his nearest companions. Hot Air then tmickly took clnrrge, nnd led to the straight from Oulprit and Popinjay. Volsloane put in a claim opposito the St. Lejer stand, and a good finish resulted in a win for Hot Air by a neck, Malthusian being beaten by a length for second place. lime, lmm. lljsec. The latter was in front again at the tivo furlongs, and led into the straight from Ladies Man and Ocean Blue; .Tacamar mad.o a late run, and won a srreat race by a head, half a length separating the second and third horses. Time, lmin. 55sec. THE METROPOLITAN, a handicap sweepstake of 20 sovs. each, v;ith 3500 sovs. added; second to Teccivc 500 'sovs., and third 250 sovs. from the stake. One mile and a half. Mr. J. E. From a. good start Woad and Vice-Ad-miral wero tho first to show out. Passing the stand tho'order was:—Vice-Ad-miral, Britain, Wop.d, Malt Kins, Flava, and Los Anseles. At a mile and a Quarter Wond was leading, followed by ViceAdmiral, Britain, Flava, Malt Kins, and Borambil. Before reaching the milo post Vice-Admiral had taken charge from Britain, Woad, Borambil, and Los Angeles. Along the back Britain and Vico-Admiral still led, followed by Piastre, Malt King, and Lady Medallist. At five furlongs Vice-Admiral was in charge from Borambil, Britain, Flava, Lady Medallist, Malt King, Los Angeles, and Bridge. Thero was little chaneo at tho half-mile, Britain being most prominent, followed by ' Flava, Lady Medallist, Malt King, Borambil, and 1-os Angeles. Round the bend Vice-Admiral piloted Lady Medallist, Britain, Fiava, Borainbil, and Malt King. Entering tho straight, Vice-Admiral and Britain . showed the way clear.of.Majt King, Flava, and Didu'=;"a'nd'at tiio'di*-" tance, Flava was leading from Malt King, Vice-Admiral, and Lady Medallist- Malt King then camo up, and ■ a'i'ter a good finish won by two lengths, a lensth and a half separating, the second and third horses. Then came Piastre, Cado.uia, Britain, Woad, and Sandbath, with Lady Lucy, and l)uke Foote last. Time, 2min. 35Jsec. FIRST STEEPLECHASE, a handicap sweepstake of 6 sovs. each, with 300 sovs. added. O'Connor's Loch Fyne, list. 3 There were nine starters, but only threo finished. Hanbipu made the running over tho Jast hurdle, but wns benten by Leah Kleshna by threo lengths. Loch Fyne was thirtjr lengths away., Time, smin. 34sec. THE BREEDERS' PLATE, a sweepstake of 20 sovs. each, withlsoo sovs. added. , For two-year-olds. Fivo furlongs. Mr. E. J. "Watt's ch. f. Ventura, by Traquair (imp.)—Sonoma, Bst. ... 1 Mr. S. Hordern's Rathkoale, Bst. 51b. 2 Mr. A. B. Paterson's Dromore, Sst. slb. 3 Twenty-seven started. Gauntlet, with Ventura and Rathkeala as his.nearest attendants, led a bunched field to the'bend. Hero Ventura went tothe front, and was never overhauled, winning by a length, Rathkeale beating Dromore by a' similar distance.
