The Church Missionary Society's 112 th annual report shows that the expenditure last year. was .C397.2C8, and the income, apart from special funds raised against tho deficit of previous years, .£31)1,000, leaving an adverse balance of .£30,-' 095. Tho total deficit is now ,£IB,OOO The society occupies .507 stations and 1032 outstations, making.a total of 130!). The report records the decision of the committee, in view of the'financial position, to withdraw from the missions, cither temporarily or permanently, many of the missionaries on furlough; and not to send any fresh re-, cruits to tho mission field, save in a few exceptional cases. , For the first four months of this year, tho society announce, the income shows a generjl increase, <£G9,572 having been received, as against '•£53,2-17 for the corresponding period last year.
