CHARITY CUP SEMI-FINAL. ■ ROVERS SCORE A WIN. ■ After a drawn game on the previous Saturday, Rovers and Y.M.C.A. again tried conclusions at Miramar on Saturday afternoon. This time, however, Rovers managed to defeat their opponents by the narrow margin of one goal, and will have to meet Swifts in the final at Porirua next Saturday. , ' . ~ Y.M.C.A. had the advantage of the wind in the first half, and registered two goals. 'E. Phillips was responsible for the first one, and W. Gibson got one past Rowan, with a nice overhead kick. Rovers were only able to score once duTing this spell, the score at half-timo 1 being: Y.M.C.A., 2 goals; Rovers, 1 goal. Playing with .the wind, 'the-Whites put on trio more goals through the 'agency 'of Millar and A. Lowe.. Towards tho end of the spell Y.'M.C.A.- had all the worst of tho game, although on one or .two occasions Parvis and Murphy made some dangerous runs. Time sounded, leaving Rovers winners by 3 goals to' 2. For Y.M.C.A. Hollis (in goal) was again in good fettle, and Wilson and Porvis were also prominent. Rowan, playing in goal for Rovers, was . very safe, but their backs were only ordinary. Mr.. A. F. Newbold had control of the game. Y.M.C.A. BOYS' DIVISION. • On Saturday evening a social vas tendered to the members of the Y.M.C.A. Boys' Department teams in honour of tho sixth division champions. About 80 boys amd guests sat down to well-filled tablos, and a very enjoyable time was spent. Various toasts wore honoured in the usual way. Mr. Mabin, secretary of the club, ' in a brief report, stated that over 'JO members had been-signed on during the past season, and seven teams were wearing the club oolours every week. During tho evening Mr. Alf. Williams presented the sixth division championship oup to Don. Scott, captain of the champion team, and con- , gratulaited them on. their fine performance only 2J goals being scored against them in seventeen matches. Tho team was then enthusiastically toasted, and Mr. Dick, the proposer of the toast, remarked on tho great progress of Association football in this division. Don. Scott suitably replied on behalf of. his team. Mr. "Wot- : boys, president of the club, was in the chair, and tlio following gentlemen con- ; tributed items (luring the evening:— Messrs. Saunders, Atkinson, 11. Baker, and J. Goer. Mr. W. N. Baker acted as 1 pianist.
