At the Glasgow Sheriff Coiirt a woman said she had been unable to pay rent owing to the seamen's strike. "Strikes aro a lramry on the part of workmen," said Sheriff Boyd, "and they must be prepared to pay for them." Three children were killed and three others seriously injured in Douglas Street, a humble thoroughfare in East Belfast, by the explosion of a firework known as a ship rocket. The six children were play, ing with the rocket, which after being thrown on the roadway exploded with a terrifio report, the shock beinp felt all round tho neighbourhood. In nine houses every pane of glass was shattered.
