WALL STREET IN A FERMENT. By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright New York, September 23. Wild trading in United States steel threw Wall Street into a ferment, resulting in liquidation on a large scale. Fivo points were lost in tho fa'rst hour. Thero was a elight recovery afterwards. Tho total sales were tho largest since 1902. Ths liquidation was due to the belief that the' steel corporation had been forced to dissolve- as tho result of tho recent suit by tho Department of Justice.
