Tho Jean Bart was built at Brest, and tbo abnormal feature about her is her cost, which represented no lesa a sum than .£2,528,000. Even for French construction, which is always dear, this is heavy. In design, the outstanding point is the great quantity of armour with which her sides aro plated. Her displacement is 23,100 tons, and her speed, with Turbine engines, is 20 knots. Her main battery mounts twelve 12in. guns, and her complement is 998 men.
