WORLD-WIDE SEARCH PROCEEDING, The Minister of Agriculture was asked recently by Mr. C. A. C. Ilardy, M.l'. whctliPr he is aware of the great damage that has, been done to tho pastures of tho Dominion by tlio grass-grub, and if he will offer a reward for the. discovery of some means to cope with tho pest; also, what steps the Department of Agriculture is taking to deal with this matter? The Minister has replied that tho Government is well aware of the seriousness of tho damage done by grass-grubs. The officers of the Department had for years past been endeavouring to find somo efficient means of controlling this pejt. Similar endeavours had been made T3y hundreds of practical and scientific men in Europo and America, but up to tho present no really good remedy had been evolved. It is improbable that any advantage would be gained by offering a reward for a remedy which is already tho subject of 03ntinn.1l world-wide research. The matter will bo carefully watched both hero and abroad.
