POSTING COMMENCES NEXT WEEK. CITY YOUTHS AND MEDICAL INSPECTION. Tho work of posting the registered and medically examined recruits to tho Senior Cadets and Territorial units will bo commenced on Friday next, when tho Postinc Committee for tho Wellington Group will assemble at iho Garrison Hall, Buckle Street, at 10 a.m. Tho returns of tho mc-dical examination of the youths eligible for the Senior Cadets aud Territorials are now practically completed. In tho Wellington City area, whiph includes tho city itself, Kolburne. Jiosoncath, Mouut Victoria, St.* Patrick's College, and tho s.s. Amokura, the statistics show that tho total number of Senior Cadets (not serving) who were registered was Gl9, of whom 593 wero returned as medically fit, 12 unfit for tho current year, and 14 totally unfit. Tilio Territorial statistics show- that of those at present serving, 412 have been returned as registered, b«t only 329 of these were returned as unfit, 113 being rejected; of those registered, but not serving, 532 wero registered, 352 returned as fit for service, and 181 rejected. SENIOR CADET'OFFICERS. CONDITIONS OF APPOINTMENT. "With regard to tho appointment of officers to tho unattached list for servico with the Senior Cadets," states a circular from district headquarters, "it is important at tliis stage to secure the services of gentlemen competent to control and administer the numerous Senior Cadet companies now being formed. Tho Oificer Commanding tho District is willing to consider recommendations for the. direct appointment of gentlemen of, any age, within tho conditions of tho regulations, to a rank (not above that ot major), on the unattached list compatible with the responsibilities they assume. Gentlemen so appointed will como under tho provisions of the regulations as regards outfit grant and tho age for retirement. It has been decided that in tho case of officers appointed to commissions on the unattached list for service with the Senior Cadets, tho outfit grant will bo £9; tho issue of this grant is subject to the conditions of the regulations, except that t.lio officer'will only bo required to serre three years from the date of his appointment, instead of five."
MUSKETRY COURSES. FIELD PRACTICE FOR TRAINED MEN. "The trained soldiers of tlie Territorials and Senior Cadets, and all members of riflo clubs, will firo the courso for Home Territorials," states a circular memorandum from District Headquarters. "In field practices 20 rounds per man will lw issued, provided that not less than 20 men carry out the practice. Where no suitable ground is available, simple practiccs can be carried out on the local range., Tho, free issue of ammunition for field practices- will bo granted on tho application of the Officer Commanding tho unit, and the Staff Officer to the Senior Cadets. For the present riflo clubs will not carry out field practices. With regard to musketry training for recruits, 20 rounds is available for each 'recruit ou tho application of the Officer Commanding the unit, or the Staff Officer for the cadet's, for instructional practices."
