Inquiries were recently made as to whether a warship would be in port on Trafalgar Day (October 21), and the following letter lias just boon received by tho local hon. secretary of the Navy lx-nguo from the secretary to tho Naval Com-mander-in-Chief at Sydney:-"I am directed by the Naval Commander-in-Chief to thank you for your letter of the Btt instant and enclosures, and to inform yoa that his Exccllency much regrets that, owing to four ships having been away to Colombo to rccommission and to gunnery practices, there will not bo any of his Majesty's ships in New Zealand waters beforo the latter part of November. I will communicato with you further as to tho date of the Commander-in-Chief's proposed visit to New Zealand when his Excellency is in a position to arrange his future movements, which aro at present dependeat 011 what orders he may rcceivo from the Admiralty as to the relief of H.M.S. The Kirbirnio portioa of tlio olectorato was subdivided and allocated to members of the committee. Tho proceedings at tho mooting were of aa ontliusiaaJic character.
