A NEW BISHOP FOR LONDON.
BISHOP-SUFFHAGAJi OP WILLESDEN. Tho Bishop of London is to havo a fourth .suffragan bishop to assist him in the oversight of his vast populous diocese. William Willcox Per Tin, Bishop of Columbia, is nominated for the new post, and will take tho titlo of bishop-Suffragan of Willesden. For nearly twenty years Dr. Perrin has done vigorous seryko as Bishop in .British Columbia, which includes Vancouver and. the neighbouring islands. He is practically unknown in the' London Diocese, though the Bishop of London, as president of tho British Columbia Church Aid Society, knows his good work. After graduating at Oxford in 1871, Dr. Perrin was for ten years curate, to Canon, (now, Archdeacon) V.'ilberforee at St. Mary's Southampton, and afterwards held tho vicarage of St. Lnko's, Southampton, for a do7/>n years. Tho new appointment will considerably relievo tho Bishop of Islington, who is nearly' seventy. He will hand over t6 Dr. Perrin tho oversight of tlio deaneries of Hampstead, Hbrnscy„St. Paneras. and Willcsden, while the deaneries of Holborn, Islington, Tottenham, and Enfield will remain in his own care. One of the old city livings usually provides means for London suffragan bishops, and the Bishop of Islington will probably resign the rectory of .St. Andrew Undernhaft in favour of Dr. Perrin, receiving, however, by arrangement, some small share of the stipend to meet his episcopal expenses. .
