UNITING ROTORUA AND TAUPO.
o THE WAY TO DO IT. (By TeleeraDb.—Press Association.) Rotorua, September 20, At a largely-attended meeting resolations were passed to the effect that, in the opinion of this meeting, the time has arrived when the Government should tako into consideration the construction of tho railway between Rotorua and Taupo, and Iho connection of these towns with tho Alain Trunk railway by the construction of a railway line between Taupo or Tohaanu and Kakahi on tho Mam Trunk lino, or any more convenient point on that lino.
It was urged that tho proposed private lino from Putnruru to Taupo would, if authorised, preclude any possibility of tho first-mentioned line being authorised. It would also bo of far less value to tho Dominion as a whole than the proposed Rotorua to Taupo line, and would bo entirely antagonistic to the principles of State-owned railways. The meeting therefore protested against such a lino boinj authorised.
