VICTORIAN BUDGET.

A PROSPEROUS STATE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Rec. September 14, 9.35 p.m.) Melbourne, September 11. The State Budget was delivered in the Legislative Assembly by the Treasurer, Mr. Watt. Tho revenue for the year totalled .£9,142,531, which is «£177,5G9 in excess of the .Estimates. The expenditure amounted to ,£9,117,212, or ,£170,935 in excess of tho Estimates.

The railways show a surplus of ,£262,210 and tho State coal mine a surplus of ,£15,578. The-interest received on advances for land purchase, to water trusts, etc., exceeded the interest' payable by >£-i 7,822. ..Mr. Watt claimed that these figures showed that there was no Victorian Public Debt.

The oversea trade totalled .£38,190,842, an increase of twenty per cent in three years. The State's production amounted to £13,481,777, an increase of 20 per cent. Bank deposits totalled ,£17,272,000, an increase of „E2 10s. per head in three years. Tho credit fonder system had proved highly successful.

The estimated revenue for the current year is X9,650',000, and the expenditure .£9,051,424.

The total public debt of Victoria on June 30, 1910, was .£55,576,725, equal to .£l2 9s. 4d. per head. The annual interest payable was .£1,957,710 or XI 9s. lid. per head. The sinking fund on tho date mentioned was .£851,055.
