HEREFORD ASSOCIATION.

Hereford cattlo aro becoming moro, popular, not only in this Dominion, but all over tho' world, as evidenced bv tho high prices ruling for both bulls' and heifers. The breeders in the Dominion were unable to supply the demands for bulls last year, and inquiries for both bulls and heifers wero made from the Fijis, proving to what a great range of climate tho Hereford .is adapted. , During the past 5-ear the. Into' Mr. Wheeler's famous Burford herd was sold. Tho' 'sale drew a great number of buyers, representing all parts of New Zealand and also" from Australia. Although there is a certain amount of regret at seeing ' these '■ old established herds scattered, -still ■ the Dominion as a whole must benefit by the. dispersal 'of such a herd having the character for hardiness and good blood that the Burford herd possessed. The president and vicepresident (Messrs. F. W. Arbon and A, C. Morton), and one member of the council (Mr. E. Short) retire by rotation, but are eligible for re-election. The late Mr. G. >C:, Wheeler's place on the council will also have to be filled. Nominations for theso offices will be received by the secretary (Mr. G. "R. Sykes, of Masterton).
