After a resume of last season's doings the annual report of the "Wellington Provincial Lawn Tennis Association ,says:— "It will bo seen from the balance-sheet that tho past season has been a very successful one. Notwithstanding tho losses on the Wellington-Canterbury matches and the dance given by this association, a profit of £itl 2s. 4d. is shown. This is no doubt duo to the increased entries for the iutcr-club comr/etitions and to the t charge made to players for playing on the Day's Bay courts. Your committee would bring under your notice tho fact that this association is liable to the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association, under its new rules, for an annual subscription of 3d. per capita; Your committee, would suggest that some provision bc,mado to meet a possible demand for the full nmomit, either by means of a fixed increase in clubs' annual subscriptions, or by a levy, as required, proportionate to

clubs' memberships. During the. past season fourteen committee meetings were held, and tho attendances of the members were satisfactory. Messrs. galmond and Godher resigned from the committee early ill the year, and Sir. Duncan and Dr. Isaacs were elected to fill the vacancies. Towards the end of die year Mr. Duncan resigned and.Jlr. THE VICTORIA COLLEGE CLUB. Tho annual report of the Victoria College Tennis Club, to bo submitted at thq annual meeting on Friday next, states that tho past year has been a very successful one. The membership is now 95, a record for the club. The finances are in a sound condition, but two courts have, yet to be levelled, and this will entail considerable expenditure. It was intended to level these courts during tho year, but the club had unexpectedly to assume the liability of a fairly large account for fencing, and the committee thought- it advisable to postpone the levelling till next year. The report expresses the opinion that the inter-club matches have not been quite so enjoyable as in the previous year, and hopes that some combined events will be included in the programme of inter-club matches during the coming season. In the inter-university tournament, Victoria College was only successful in winning ono , event, Mrs. Bogle and Miss Tennent winning the ladies' doubles. The club matches have resulted as follows:—Club championship (carrying a medal and possession of the Professor's Shield for six months) :Mrs. A. H. Bogle, Mr. J. B. Parker. Handicaps: Ladies' doubles', Missee- V. Saxon and L. M'lntosli; men's doubles, Messrs. C. Batten and H. H. Daniell; cornbinds, Miss 6. Saxon and K. W. Wright; men's singles, Mr. B. Loughuan. Several members spent their last season with the club, among those being Misses Barkas, Taylor, and Butler, Mr. and Mrs. A. 'H. Bogle, and Messrs. IV A. Wilson and Randrup.' Tho club expresses its best wishes for their future.
