A MUNICIPAL PROTEST.

PLUMBERS' REGISTRATION BILL. The Petone Borough Council has followed the lrad of' Ibo AVellington City Council, and entered up a vigorous protest against Government intrusions upon the sphere of autliorilv of local bodies, as expressed in the Plumbers' Registration Bill. At its meeting last evening tho following resolution was carried unanimously:— "That this council, while agreeing with the principle of Clauses 1 to 7 of tho Plumbers' Registration Bill, now before the House, is of opinion (hut Clause S will, in its operation, doprivo local authorities of the power to examine and control local sanitary plumbing, ami this council hereby protests against any enactment being ■ passed into law which will deprive local authorities of-such right and control." A copy of the abovo resolution is to bo forwarded to the member for Hutt.
