The "Times" understands that the Opposition party at Hiverton has decided to support Mr. James King, of Clifton, as uandidato for the Wallace electorate in the Opposition interest at the forthcoming elections. THAMES. i ' Thames, September 4. So far tho only candidate out against Mr. Taylor for Thames is Mr. T. W. llhodes, a Liberal-Freeholder, who gives a general support to t'he Government policv with the exception named. He is now addressing various parts of tho electorate. Tho Chamber of Commcrco passed a resolution objecting to the largo addition to tho western boundary of tho Thames electorate. Mr. J. H. Bradney, a member of the Auckland Harbour Board, has, it i's stated, practically decided to stand for Auckland West at tho approaching election. He will probably be nil Opposition candidate. Mr. l'oole is the sitting member. In reply to representations urging him tc contest the Wellington Suburbs seat at tho general election, Mr. A. It. Atkinson, who was in the eceond ballot for Wellington Ea«t against Mr. D. M'Laren three years ago, stated that ho believed his chances to Iμ excellent for that feat (Wellington East), and did not feel justified in leaving' it for another. He had decided, however, for private reasons which wero no concern of the electors, that he would be unable to stand for any constituency at tho coming elections.
