« THE ROXGOTEA ACCIDENT. (By Teloßraph.— Special Oorrespondcnt.l Palmerston, September 'i. Later particulars of the, accident by ivhich Frank Heily was killed on Saturday morning at Sir. H. Jarvi's's flaxmill, at Rongotea, are to (he effect that ho ?,iA a fellow-worker had been engaged replacing a largo belt on a pulley, and by sonic means tho engine started, Mid deceased was caught in. the.belt. Death was instantaneous. Deceased was from Marlborough, where his parents are old settlers. An inquest has been opened before Sir. A. D. Thomson, S.SI., District Coroner, but was adjourned till.Friday next, to enable the Inspector of Machinery to Rive, evidence. Deceased was Si years of age. ' THE UNKNOWN DEAD. (By Tclesrraph.—Press Association.) Auckland, September i. The body of a man with a loiik grey, beard has been found. Ho had been dead some time. In a pocket was a sailor's knife. Several men have, boon reported missinK, but the police have not yet discovered tho dead man's identity.
