(By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Wanganui, September 2. Reporting to t'lie Harbour Board, the resident engineer (Mr. C. H. Howorth) states that the shoaling caused by last month's flood is rapidly clearing away though, owing to tho prevalence of south-easterly weather (which has - backed tho scour up), the clearance has not boon so rapid as if there had been the usual westerly conditions. The working depth on Hie bar is now sixteen feet at high springs. Both the North and South Moles have now been completed so far as the present scheme of works goes. _ Some 1000 feet has been added to tlio North Mole, while the South Molo has been constructed to its full length of 3200 feet. The moles arc now beginning to do effective work, ami tlio engineer anticipate.? that they should have no difficulty in maintaining tho bar at a depth of between IS feet and 20 l'eet.
