THE N.Z. FBDEKATION. Tlio annual meeting of the N.Z. Sheepowners' and Fanners', " Federation was held in the Farmers' Union Ifcoms yesterday, Colonel A. 11. Eussall (Hnvko's Bay) presiding. ' The following districts were also represented:—Mr. Roderick ll'Kenzio and Colonel J. C. Nieholls (Otago), Messrs. H. D. Ackland, W.Jtactarla.ne, and-Major J. ■ Dcnns (Cantorbury),. ■ llr. 11. B. ■ Vavasour (Atariborough), J. G. "Wilson and H. A. Novins (Wellington), Mr. S. G. AVright (Hawke's Hay), and Mr. 11. V. de Lalour (Poverty Hay). On the motion of Colonel Russell, seconded by Mr. Roderick M'Koraic, the adoption of thn report and balance-sheet was agreed to. Officers were elected ns under:—President, Mr. 11.'D. Ackland;, vice-president, Mr. ,r. (!. Wilson; lion, treasurer, Mr. 1). 1). Jlncfarhute. A council consisting of IS members was also elected. Wool-classing and Shearing. The vroot-classcrs' demands wero considered, and were referred tack to the Canterbury Union. llr. Ackland paid it had been arranged with tho Shearers' "Federation, for Dominion awards in connection with shearers and shed hands, on the terms of the Wei-, lington award. . . .'. "I he Shearers' Accommodation Bill and •tho. Sale of Poisons ■ Rill 'were also considered, and certain amendments suggested. ■ Colonel Bussell and Mr. H.D.Vava-our were appointed representatives to attend the annual niccting. of the-New Zealand iinipleyers . Federation. Mr. J. C. Nicholls brought before the meeting the present position of Crown tenants-on grazing runs,- with regard to their deprivation by the Land Act of 1910 of compensation for impovenients at the expiration of their' leases. ;Thc matter was referred to the executive. Producers and the Meat Trade, Mr. H. J). Vavasour brought before the meeting the objects of tho-N.Z. Producers! Association. . In supporting Mr.:. Vavasour, ■ Mr. ,T. G. Wilson urged the ,pf sfcuring improved dock; rincommountion and transit in London 'for Xow Zealand frozen produce. There, .was now, he said, an opportunity (if arranging for up-to-date dnek accominodathn within five miles of the city if prompt action were taken by the producers. Th.e'\Producers' Association had obtained an assurance from Lord Devonport that the •necessary improvements would,bo.mude to the South West India Bock's, and the necessary porting sheds would , , be erected, provided that tho project received the prompt support of producers generally.
On the motion of Itr. ll.D.Vavasour, seconded by Mr. .T. G. Wilson, it was resolved that the Canterbury ami Ota»o Sheepowners' T7iiinn.~ lie to consider the question of obtaining improved dock accommodation ■ in London for frozen produce, and that the unions Gβ recommended to bring tho matter before thn larger buyers' of stock in. Canterbury and Otago, and to point out tho advantages to bo gained if. the present opporr tunity were avniled. of accommodation at the South AVest India Docks for the frozen meat trade.
