SUPREME COURT.

IN DIVORCE. Jlr. Justice Sim yesterday heard further evidence in the divorce petition of Elizabeth Lowther v. Fredk. Walter James Charles Lowther. The petition was partly heard on Saturday and adjourned to allow of respondent's domicile in New Zealand being proved. Evidence on these lines was forthcoming yesterday, and a decree' nisi was granted, to be made absolute in three months, costs on the lowest scale being allowed. Jlr. F. E. Petheriek appeared for the petitioner. CIVIL CASES MENTIONED. Mention was made in the Supreme Court yesterday of tho case of Herbert Carter and James W. Body v. John W. Chapman, a claim for declaration of lawful rescission of nu agreement to purchaM certain land in the Waikato, and also for the sum of i'so7 16s. id.' The case was partly heard at the last sittings, when Mr. T. JI. Wilford, with him Jlr. Cracroft Wilson, appeared for plaintiffs, and. Jlr. A. Gray, with him Mr. C. W. Tringham, for the defendant. Yesterday Jlr. Tringham asked Jtr. Justice Sim to make a fixture for Jlr. Justice Chapman, who heard the case. He asked that two days bo set aside for tho completion of tho case. His Honour fixed September 7 provisionally.

CUSTOMS MAY CLAIM .620,000. The cases, in which the Minister for Customs is claiming -£20,040 2s. 3d. penalty from tho Australian Kodak, Ltd., and from Harold Anthony Beauchamp, for alleged evasion of Customs duty, woro mentioned yesterday. Mr. Justice Sim remarked that he understood that tho cases were to ■ stand down for the present.
