Swancr's herd at Oaltnrn, when there was a good attendance, and the cows (most of which were early calvcrs and in fair condition) realised good prices. Cows, close up. brought from £6 to £10: later, £4 10a. to £5 155.; bulls, £5 ss. to £6; sows, £2 t3 £3 65.; boar, 325.; good stores, 16s. to 235.; porliors, 30s. At my Urenui sale on Monday, August 21, there was a largo yarding, especially of young cattle, which were in good demand. Several lines of dairy cows were offered, but, being in rather poor condition, did not realise recent market rates. At by fortnightly cattlo sale ot Stratford on August 22 there was a fair .yarding, with a good attendance of buyers. Young cattlo were in good demand, and sold readily. On the same day my Stratford dairy yards were filled with springing heifers and dairy cows, which met with a good market. A very choice lino was yarded by Mr. / Geo. fjorimar, which averaged £9 95.; one of the cows reached £19 10s. Springing heifers, close mi, made £6 to £7 17s. 6d.; later, £4 to £5 155.; dairy cows, close up, £6 to £19 lGs.; later, £4 IDs. to £5 155.; very late. £3 7s. 6d. to £4 Es. At Stony Hivcr on Wednesday, August 23 .there wn.s a good yarding, mostly of young stock, prices for which were slightly in advance of previous sale. Romo choice fat cows were disposed of at from £5 12s. Cd. to £7 155.; mixed yearlings mado 2Gs. Gd. to £2 4s. Cd.; yearling steers, £2 to £2 lCs.
