DARING ROBBERIES.
«- • j A POLICEMAN MORTALLY WOUNDED. By Telegraph-Press Association-Copyright Ottawa, August 24, A policeman accosted three housebreakers in daylight in a back street in Winnipeg. The latter fired and wounded the policeman mortally. Other policemen engaged the robbers, revolvers being used on both sides. Tho criminals were finally captured whan their revolvers were empty, ROBBED OP ,£3OOO IN DAYLIGHT. London, August 24. Mr. Hopton, a diamond merchant, was .bailed up in a street in tho daytimo near Dalston, a London suburb, and robbed of J23000 worth of diamonds. Tho three robbers decamped in a taxi-; cab. ANOTHER DIAMOND ROBBERY. Paris, August 24. A merchant travelling from Paris to Antwerp was robbed of diamonds worth .£7OOO.
