A QUESTION OP DATES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association,) ..,..„;, Christchurch, August 2&, ' Arising out of a discussion at a recent .meeting of tho commit tea of tho Cantorbury Cricket Association on the manner in which cricket would bo afi'ectod if tho military training parades announced were held oil tho dales fixed, a d*pubtion waited on Colonel Hawkins, officer commanding tho district, to-day, Tho deputation pointed out that 110 players would bo affected if tho dates fixed for (ha training parades wero adhered to. Colonel Hawkins was assured by the deputation that the association heartily supported military training, and was willing to assist by'cvory means in its power to mako it a success. At the same timo it w.tj desired that full consideration should bo given to cricketers. Colonel Hawkins sa.id that ho would go thoroughly into the matter, and would advise tho association later of the decision arrived at. Ila expressed tho opinion that tho military authorities, from the commandant downwards, would be willing to assist tho cricketers if it was at all practicable.
