LAUNCH BLOWN TO ATOMS.
CEEW HURLED ALONG THE SEACH. (By TelewaDh— Press Association.) Blenheim, August 23. Early this niornmg a whaling launch, owned by J. Pearano and Co., Picton, was totally destroyed by fire in Queer. Charlotto Sound. The launch was beached last night for purposes of cleaning and overhauling, and on one of the occupants lighting a lantern preparatory to beginning operations, Che benzine ignited. This was followed "by an explosion of dynamite which was on beard, .and the three wero hurled some distance along ths beach. Oho of them, named George Baxter, received painful burns , . The boat was blown to atoms, and everything wns lost, including some whaling gear. The loss \s estimated at close on .£3OO.
