LETTERPRESS PRINTERS.
The? annual dinner of tho Wfllinston Letterpress Printers' Machinists' Union was held on Saturday evening in the Tiffin Room?, Mr. E. M'Lcary, president of the union, occupying the chair. Replyin? to a toast of "Parliament," Mr. 13. Jl'Lnreu urged the necessity for each individual worker taking a more lively interest in th» politics of the country. It was not. sufficient to leave such to the officers of tb? unions. Mr. M'Lartn proceeded to speak at some length on unionism. Mr. E. H. Hustler, secretary, responding to the toast, of the union dwelt on the doings of, the union from the time of its inception, its flourishing state financially,, and 'increased membership. There were now, ho said, 101) members. Mr. A. Burns, president of the fxecutive, also spoke of the progress made by the society. Quito recently a conference of dokjtatrs from affiliated bodies was held in Wellington, and great things wero expected to result. Musical items, etc., were given by Messrs. ll'Lcary, Mack, Ktrr, Green, 'Wilson, Dnrnctt, Newth, and Stevens.
