EMIGRATION.
According to a British Board of Trade returns tho United Kingdom lost by emigration last year 233,709 of its inhabitants. These figures show an increase of 94,016 on 190 D, and 112,533 on 1908. They have only once been exceeded—in 1007— when the figures were 235,092. The rush to Canada is the feature of the following table: — 1010. 1909. 1808. British North America 115,681 52,378 41,455 United. States ... 73,560 55,377 31,451 Australia and New Zealand ... 32,725 25,202 20,423 The emigrants to British South Africa last year numbered 8314.
