Williamson and Sir Huport Clarke, the theatrical -ventures of Clarko nnd Meynell will.bo taken over and incorporated with tho Williamson enterprises on September 1. Botlr firms will ba represented on tho directorate. EXPENSES TO BE'REDUCED. (Rec. August 11, 0.20 a.m.) „, .. Melbourne, August 10. The objects of tho Williamson-Clarke and Meyuell combine is to roduce the cost of production of plays, which, during tho last four or five years, has doubled, mainly owing to increases in royalties and salaries; also to raise the artistio tone of the productions brought out, and to regulate dates and the ucituro of the attractions touring Australasia. Amongst tho theatres taken ovor by the combination arc the Opera House, Wellington, and tho Theatre Royal, Christchurch. From ten to twelve expensive companies will bo kept touring Australia and NewZealand.
