NUMEROUS ARRESTS MADE. Bj Telecrarh- 'Press Association—Oopjrieht Brisbane, August 4. The nine men arrested in connection with the riot in tho Childors sugar-field district.haive each.been sentenced to three months' imprisonment on charges of intimidation. The police visited the sugar strikers' camp at Childers and arrested sixteen more men. Unionists at Mackay induced .the crowof tho steamer Trinawar to leavo tho vessel because sV; towed a lighter loaded with non-union sugar. At Townsville the unionists induced a number 'of free labourers proceeding: to Cairns to join the strike. Twelve strikers have been committed for trial at Bundaberg on charges of unlawful assembly.
