Wedding at Palmerston. At St. Andrew's Church on Wednesday a pretty wedding was celebrated, when Miss Jfatilda Millar, daughter of Mr. James Millar, of Palmorston North, was married to Sir. Ernest Pearoe, son of Mr. Pearce, of ' Wellington. The Rev. A. Doull, M.A., performed the ceremony. Tho bride wore a cream serge, costume with silk revers. and a swathed toque ot I cream panne finished with a black wing. I He.r sisters, the Misses Ivy, Ellen, and Dorothy Millar attended, her as bridesmaids, all wearing frocks of cream shantung, and black hats. The bridegroom was attended by the Messrs. Andrew Millar, Kenneth Millar, .nAd Henry Partrid»e. The bridegroom's present to the bride was a pendant set with pearls. Sale of Work. The biennial sale of the Young Women's Guild of St. John's Church, held in the Dixon . Street Hall yesterday afternoon, was well worth a visit, from thoso who were anxious to acquire pretty and useful articles for the house, or for personal uso. The work stalls had a very fine display of both fancy and plain goods, and tho other stalls were laden with all sorts of attractive things. Although ,the weather was not so pleasant as it might have been, tho salo was well attended, both in tho and the evening, and was very good business was done. Tho Plain Work Stall was in the charge of Mrs. Gibb, Mrs. Gilmer, Mrs. Gill, and Miss Sinclair. Fancy Work Stall, Misses Smith, Badden, and M'Cullocb. Sweet Stall, Misses Hopkirk, M'Kenzie, and Johnston. Flower Stall, Misses Allan (2), and Miss Hopkirk. Cake Stall, Misses Gibb, Ralstoa, and Scott. The Junior Endeavour Society had charge of a fancy stall, under the direction of Sister Mabel, and the refreshment stall was attended to by Mrs. Allan, Mrs. M'Kenzie, and assistants. Several interesting side-shows were provided by the members of the Young Men's Bible Class, and, in the evening, an entertainment, consisting- of dialogues, comediettes, and musical items was given by tho various Bible classes. Mr. J. G. W. Aitken opened the eale.and explained tho object of it, which is to raisa funds for providing the Maori girl's at Turakina with scholarships—an object that merits support. The sale will be continued this afternoon • and evening, and another amusing entertainment will be in the evening. Mrs. Hand-Newtoa. has returned to Masterton from Palne'rston North, where she has beon spendirg several weeks. Miss Campbell (Melbourne), who has been spending some time in Masterton, left for Auckland on Tuesday. . Mrs. C. B. Russell and her two daughters leave on a visit to Sydney to-day.
