MAGISTRATE ON JUDGMENT - SUMMONS. The man earned £2 7s. a week, ho paid 10s. a week rent, lio had no property, and lie had a wife and child to keep, lie was proceeded against on ri judgment summons, and was in the witness-box undorgoing an examination, the extractions from which were to help the Court to decide whether or not an order of tlio Court for payment of tho debt should be made against him. Tho lawyer who was advocating the caso of the creditor was still questioning (lie debtor when Dr. M'Arthur, S.M., interjected: "What's the use of goinj; any further?" Counsel went a little further, and tlisn. said that ho would ask for an order to bo made. "Ho is not in a bad position," ho remarked. Dr. 31' Arthur: "Not in a bad position with X 2 7s. (i week aud three, of them to keep! £1 17*. to letup-three 1 I hope I shall never see you'in that position, Mr. . I know I never shall." "No order!" (concluded his Worship), "Go away home, debtor I"
