ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

FATAL SHOOTING. (By Telccraph.-Ptess Association.) Nelson, July 31. Robt-rt Ilenry Flowers, a" visitor from Blenheim, was hare-shooting on the Wakapuaka Koad to-day, while awaiting tho coach for returning home, when he slipped on a liill. His gun went off, wounding him so seriously that death ensued shortly afterwards. Deceased was a married man with a family of two. FATAL FALL AT THE HUNT. Invercargill, July 31. A fatal accident befell Edward Jones, aged 32, while following the Birchwood Hunt adjacent to Lumsden township, on Saturday. It appears that his horse, stumbled whilst taking the fence. Jones clung to the reins, but fell heavily to tho ground, fracturing his skull. Dr. Copeiand, wlio was a spectator at the hunt, happened to be standing within ten yards of the scene of the accident, and at once rushed to Jones's assistance, and rendered what aid was possible. He then liad Jones removed to liis home, where he lingered until 7 a.m. on Sunday. Deceased was a son of Mr. Edward Jones, butcher, of Lumsdon.

STRUCK BY A TBAMCAR. While crossing Adelaide Road at about half-past ten o'clock yesterday morning an old age pensioner named Christopher White, 70 years of age. was knocked down by a tramcar. White sustained a scalp wound, and slight concussion of the brain. lie was attended to at Gower s Pharmacy by Dr. Cameron, and tVn removed to the hospital. Later in the day ho was well enough to leave for his own home.
