Both men are rowing in top form, and they will have a strong tide, and probably the wind in their favour. During the recent heavy weather they have been training at short, bard sprints, under shelter of tiie headlands, ana have been showing marvellous pace. Tremendous interest is taken in tho race, and a big attendance is expected. EXCELLENT TRIAL ?P1N,5..... ■ (Rec. July 27, 0.25 a.m.) " Sydney, July 26. Arnst and Pearce put in excellent trial spins to-day, rowing level to Uhrs Point, when Pearco shot ahead by a length and a quarter, maintaining his lead until beyond the milo beacon, where his pacemakers dropped out.

Arnst made a spurt and shot two lengths in front, then dropping back. Shortly after this he stopped.

Tho most noticeable fcaturo of the rowing was the difference in tho two men's styles. Arnst took a long, sweeping stroke, catching and finishing hard, while Pcarcc's strokes were considerably shorter, but ho dipped faster, and was particularly lively.
