REV.G. MLUKIE AND CARR'S LANE.

THE YARMOUTH POINT OF VIEW. In connection with the invitation to the liov. Georgo M'Luckie, 8.A., of Yarmouth, to succeed Dr. Jowett at Carrs Lane Church, Birmingham, the largest and most unanimous meeting ever held in connection with King Street Church, 1 arniouth, took place on June 12, at the instance of the deacons, to consider the p<j=itio nthat arisen through the call. Splendid testimonies were given to the character of the work Mr. M'Luckio is doing in Yarmouth, and nil the speakers dreaded the possibility of his leaving that town as a calamity; It was unanimously resolved that, while sensible of tho honour conferred upon Mr. M'Luckie and the church by the invitation to follow Dr. Jowett, "we call his attention to tho fact that during his comparatively short pastorate here, ho has welded the various organisations of the Church into a happy and united Christian community, and that througn his untiring energy and well-directed zeal, flagging departments of church work have been revived, old institutions resuscitated, and new departments of work started and kept in vigorous operation. We would also desire to point out that the removal nf Mr. M'Luckie from us just at this time would be a great setback to this- happy condition of thinss, whilst his continuance with us would spur the Church to still further endeavour and tho achievement of still ereate, , Mf-nlts/for the furtherance of Christ's Kiiiod'nrn in our town. We would further notn that Mr. M'Luckie has, by Ids winning personality, wise counsels, and faculty for organisation, become a power for good in the town and district, and therefore taking all thc-:e mntbrs into consideration, no feel it dnubly important that he should prnyerfullv consider thp position from the Yarmouth noint of view." After the meeting four hundred signatures wero appended to the resolution, and others have been added sLnce.

A tramp who was charged at Kingston with begging had in his possession when searched, sixty-one lead pencils, four pairs of spectacles, two knives, three linen collars, three boxes of matches, a kit-bag, a looking-glass, a boot brush, two pairs of laces, a magnifying glass, a pioe, ■ and fourpence-halfpenny.
