There passed away at Awahuri on Saturday a verv old Mannwatu settler, in the person of Mr. John lioid, aged fir years. The lute Mr. Moid, who hud lived 'in the district tor nearly forty years, had at different times resided at Ormm Downs, Kopane, and Awnhun. He formerlv lived in the South Island, and, for manv vears, acted as a judge at agricultural' shows, being considered one of tho best judges of stock in New Zealand. Ho was a member of the- ManaValu Show Committee for some years, and was also at one time a member of tho Kairanga lioad Board prior to the formation of tie
