ASSESSMENT COURT.

A sitting of tho Assessment Court for tho Hutt district was held at the Magistrate's. Court yesterday afternoon. Dr. A. M'Arthur, S.M., presided, and Mr. Harper sat with him as assessor. Mr. V. N. Martin represented the Valuation Department. Mr. J. J. M'Grath appeared in support of an objection by Geo. Cudby to tho valuation of .£1650 placed on a To Momi section. It was held that land in that part of tho district had not improved, and tho valuation was reduced to tho old assessment of ,£1250.

Mr. H. F. Ayson supported an objection by Henry B. Gordon to a section at Black "Bridge, Lower Hutt, being valued at .£3200. After hearing evidence and argument tho valuation was reduced to ■£2-150.

Mr. W. L. Kothenberg objected to Mr. Nathan being named as. the owner of sections 12 and 13' in the Hutt district, on the ground that his client was unable- to get a title to the land. Tho hearing of the objection was adjourned until tomorrow morning.
