HARD PUSHED.
Sir,—Tn spite of the expressions of Sir J. Carroll and tho Hon. Fowlds that ■they are satisfied the position and prospects of the Liberal Party arc rosy, I am inclined to think that they recognise .the parting of the ways is near. My reasons for coming to this conclusion aro various, and 1 believe the opinion is apparent to a largo number of the Liberal supporters, as .well as others. A point or an incident bearing on the subject I will quote. It has come to my knowledge that men who are under twenty-one and are not on the permanent list, arc to be discharged from Government employment, and their positions to bo filled With those whose ages are over 21 years. A case of tho kind has taken place in tho Railway Department, and from what I can gather, it is the opinion of those in the know that the victim of this occasion was not eligible to vote.—l am, etc., FAIR PLAY.
