Tho Senate yesterday accepted the Reciprocity Bill by 53 votes to 3?, the majority of tho Republican Senators opposing the passage of the measure. The signature of President Taft will be affixed to the Bill on Wednesday. A SENATOR'S PEAKS. (Rcc July 23, 5.5 p.m.) Washington, July 22. It is practically certain that tho Reciprocity Agreement will ljo passed by tho Senate. Sixty senators aro favourable, and tho promised votes aro numerous. The pending amendments are to bo closured. During the debate, Senator Smith, in opposing tho Bill, said British capital was certain to flood the United States through Canadian channels under reciprocity. (Rec. July 24,' 0.55 a.m.) Ottawa, July 23. Mr. Aylesirorth, Minister for Justice, scouts the idea that a general election is pending in Canada for at least another session. This statement is taken to indicate that tho Government has not abandoned the hope of wearing down the Conservative opposition to the Reciprocity Bill.
