NEW SOUTH WALES FISHERIE
BETTER TRANSIT NEEDED. Bj Telocranh-Press Assoctatlon-Oonyrlehl Sydney, July 22. Giving evidence before the Royal Commission on Food, Mr. Stead, naturalist of the Fisheries Department, stated that 12,000,0001b. of fish was last year sent to tho Sydney and Nowcastlo markets. Often the fishermen were- prevented in their own interests from sending fish to market, for fear of creating a glut. Shoals of salmon mullet penned up wore allowed to escape when the market was not good enough.
With better facilities for transit and distribution, 6aid the witness, the industry was capable of enormous expansion.
