For some years Now Zealand has- not 1 participated'in this service, which has boon steadily maintained lretivcon Sydney ' aml Vancouver, with lin'shane as the port) of arrival and departure in Australia. Tho , new service cuts Brisbane out, and substitutes Auckland, which gives New Zealand two direct services with America. ' The new service is n four-weekly one, and will bo maintained by tho Marama, 1 Makura, and Zealaudia, leaving Auckland " in that order. ; One advantage of tho new connection ! will be Uio facilitating of the mail sor- ' vice frem England and America via Van- ' conver. Only now nnd again was it ' possible for one of the Island steamers ' to secure Iho Dominion mails at Suva 5 and bring them on to Auckland.
