She is named tho Awaroa, and at present is owned and employed by tho Kaipnra Steamship Company. Recently. Mr. A. Basiro. superintendent engineer for tho AVollington Steam Forrios Company, visited Kaipara, and concluded negotiations for tho purchase of the vessel on behalf- of his company. Her engines are by tho Wallseud Shipway Company, England, and arc triple expansion, the diameters of tho cylinders bcintr 13 inches, ■ 21 inches, and 35 inches. Tho Awaroa has a largo cabin and dining-saloon aft, with a ladies' cabin on tho upper deck, A well-furnished smoke-room is placed on tho forward deck. Electric light is fitted, and steam steering gear is employed. ' Tho Awaroa. has a hold forward eap- . able of holding 200 tons of general cargo, j and it is the intention of her now owners i to fit this spaco up for passengers.
